General update
The countdown to the general election continues.
Major UK high street banks have stated that their payment issues are now fixed. Banks including HSBC, Nationwide, Barclays and Virgin Money were all affected by issues with a system that operates payments between individuals and firms. I noticed delays when moving money from Barclays to Lloyds yesterday using faster payments. The incident impacted many consumers resulting in non-payment of household bills when salaries and wages would normally have been expected to be in their accounts.
